Gold edged higher in Pakistan’s bullion markets on Saturday, with 24-karat gold trading at around Rs441,000 per tola, even as international gold prices pulled back overnight on the back of a firmer US dollar.

The local rate is up roughly Rs600 from Thursday’s close of Rs440,400 per tola, a modest 0.1 percent uptick that stands out against the backdrop of global weakness. According to live rate trackers hamariweb.com and Abbasi & Company, 24K gold was quoted at Rs441,000–441,100 per tola in Karachi’s Sarafa market on Saturday, a figure cross-checked across both sources before publication. Silver also eased slightly, with Sarafa Bazar-linked trackers todaygoldrate.pk and pakbiz.com both pricing it in the Rs6,790–6,850 per tola range, down from Thursday’s roughly Rs6,881.

The divergence between Pakistan’s slightly firmer gold rate and the softer international market comes down to timing and the rupee. Spot gold slipped to about $4,140 per ounce internationally, down roughly $37 (-0.9 percent) on the day, according to Kitco and Trading Economics data. The pullback followed a stronger US dollar and rising Treasury yields, even though a weaker-than-expected US jobs report — just 29,000 positions added in September against 90,000 expected — reinforced bets that the Federal Reserve will hold interest rates steady rather than hike further. Pakistan’s local Sarafa rate, however, is typically fixed earlier in the trading day and did not fully reflect the later overnight dip in New York trading, while the interbank dollar rate held steady at about Rs277.50, meaning currency movement played little role in Saturday’s local uptick. Dealers expect the local rate to adjust downward in the coming session if international prices stay soft.

Karat prices above are derived from the 24K rate using standard purity ratios (22K at 22/24, 21K at 21/24, 18K at 18/24), the method used whenever a source reports only the 24K figure directly. Rates can vary slightly by city and individual jeweller, so buyers are advised to confirm the exact rate with their local Sarafa association before a transaction.
