Pakistan’s Petroleum Division has raised the price of high-speed diesel (HSD) by Rs1.91 per litre to Rs393.66, effective from Saturday, October 24, while petrol has been held steady at Rs377.71 per litre for a second straight review, according to Investify Pakistan and The News, with both rates set to remain in effect through October 26.

The latest adjustment follows an unusually active month for fuel pricing in Pakistan. Petrol was cut to Rs381.14 per litre on October 20, then trimmed further to Rs377.71 on October 23, when diesel was also raised to Rs391.75. This time around, petrol has stayed put while diesel has climbed again — the second straight increase for HSD in under a week. The News reported that the government has effectively shifted to reviewing fuel prices on a near-daily basis, citing “heightened volatility in global oil markets following renewed hostilities in the Middle East” as the reason for the more frequent revisions.

That volatility has been visible in international crude benchmarks for weeks. Brent crude touched its highest level in roughly five months earlier this month as Middle East tensions escalated, a surge that also helped drag the Pakistan Stock Exchange down by more than 1,500 points on Friday, as PakDaily reported earlier this week. Diesel in particular tends to track international refined-product costs and import freight closely, which helps explain why HSD has moved upward even in cycles when petrol, priced against a different international benchmark, has held flat or fallen. A weaker rupee against the dollar in recent weeks has also added to import costs for both products, though neither source reviewed for this article specified an exact rupee-driven component of the latest change.

Fuel Previous Price (per litre) New Price, Oct 24–26 (per litre) Change
Petrol (Super) Rs377.71 Rs377.71 Unchanged
High-Speed Diesel (HSD) Rs391.75 Rs393.66 Up Rs1.91

Diesel is the fuel that keeps Pakistan’s trucks, buses, tractors and freight network running, so a sustained climb in HSD tends to feed into transport and food-supply costs more directly than a petrol move does, even when the per-litre change looks small on its own. Petrol, used mainly by motorcycles and small cars, has at least been spared a hike this cycle, offering commuters some breathing room even as the overall cost of fuel in Pakistan remains close to levels last seen during the record highs of April 2026. The Petroleum Division’s notification did not specify when the next review would take place, though the pattern of adjustments every two to three days this month suggests another revision is likely before the end of the month.
