Gold prices in Pakistan held steady heading into the weekend, with 24-karat gold still trading at Rs453,300 per tola (Rs388,640 per 10 grams) in the Karachi bullion market on Sunday, unchanged from Saturday’s close since the Karachi Sarafa Association and local jewellers’ markets do not update rates on Sundays. Live rate trackers Hamariweb and UrduPoint both carried the identical Rs453,300 figure, while Gold.pk showed a marginally higher Rs454,300/tola, keeping the broader market consensus in the Rs453,300–454,300 band.
The steady local rate follows Saturday’s uptick, when gold rose by about Rs1,800 per tola as international bullion firmed to roughly $4,378 an ounce, up close to $32 (0.7%) from Friday’s close near $4,346, according to TradingEconomics and currency-tracking site 150currency.com. Gold touched a one-week high in international trade as easing oil prices tempered some inflation worries and revived safe-haven buying, even as a broadly firm US dollar and expectations that the Federal Reserve will hold interest rates steady continued to cap bigger gains. With Pakistan’s bullion market closed for the weekend, Sunday’s rupee price simply carries over Saturday’s international-driven move rather than reflecting any fresh local trading.
| Metal / Karat | Per Tola | Per 10 Grams |
|---|---|---|
| 24K Gold | Rs453,300 | Rs388,640 |
| 22K Gold | Rs415,525 | Rs356,253 |
| 21K Gold | Rs396,638 | Rs340,060 |
| 18K Gold | Rs339,975 | Rs291,480 |
| Silver | Rs6,794 | Rs5,825 |
| International Gold (per oz, USD) | ~$4,378 | |
Silver also carried over Saturday’s rate of around Rs6,794 per tola (Rs5,825 per 10 grams) per Gold.pk, broadly matching Forex.pk’s Sunday reading of Rs6,767/tola and LivePriceOfGold’s Rs6,891/tola — all three within a roughly 2% band of each other, pointing to a quiet, largely unchanged bullion session. The 22K, 21K and 18K gold figures above are derived from the 24K rate using the standard purity ratios (22/24, 21/24 and 18/24), the same method local jewellers use to price lower-karat ornaments.
For buyers, the weekend pause means today’s rate is identical to yesterday’s update, so there is no added cost pressure from Saturday to Sunday. The bigger question is what Monday brings: if the Fed continues to signal a wait-and-see approach on rates and safe-haven demand persists, gold could extend its recent one-week-high run when Karachi’s bullion market reopens; a stronger dollar or a hawkish surprise could just as easily pull it back.
