Gold edged higher in Karachi on Saturday, with 24-karat gold trading at Rs436,500 per tola as the local market tracked a sharp overnight rally in international bullion prices. Live rate trackers tied to Karachi’s Sarafa market showed the metal up roughly Rs2,000 per tola from Friday, while silver moved in the opposite direction, slipping slightly even as its international counterpart surged.

Metal / Purity Per Tola Per 10 Grams
Gold 24K Rs436,500 Rs374,230
Gold 22K Rs400,125 Rs343,045
Gold 21K Rs381,940 Rs327,450
Gold 18K Rs327,375 Rs280,670
Silver (999 fine) Rs6,682 Rs5,727
International Gold (Spot): $4,193.60 per ounce

The local uptick tracks a strong overnight move in the international market, where spot gold settled at $4,193.60 an ounce on Friday, up $61.10 or about 1.48% on the day, according to Kitco’s live pricing data. The rally extended a run of gains built on expectations that the US Federal Reserve will keep cutting interest rates through the rest of 2026, a theme that has repeatedly pushed bullion to fresh highs this year as investors favour a non-yielding safe haven over a softer dollar. The Pakistani rupee held broadly steady against the US dollar, with the State Bank of Pakistan’s interbank data showing a weighted average of around Rs277 to the dollar on Friday, so the local gold move largely mirrored the international swing rather than being amplified or offset by currency movement.

Silver told a slightly different story locally. International silver jumped even harder than gold overnight, touching $60.70 an ounce, up 2.77% on the day per Kitco. Karachi’s own rate trackers, however, showed the local 999-fine silver rate easing marginally to Rs6,682 per tola from Friday’s roughly Rs6,721, continuing a gentle week-long drift lower in the local bazaar even as the international price spiked. This kind of short-term gap between local dealer pricing and the international benchmark is not unusual and typically closes out over the following one or two trading sessions as Karachi’s Sarafa market catches up; a few rate-tracking sites briefly showed figures as high as Rs6,794 per tola on Saturday morning, underlining how quickly local quotes can bounce around at the start of a session before settling.

Readers planning a purchase should treat the figures above as indicative citywide averages — actual rates can vary slightly between individual jewellers and by a few rupees depending on the specific Sarafa bazaar consulted.
