Gold prices in Pakistan eased on Tuesday, with the 24-karat rate in the local market falling to Rs446,200 per tola (Rs382,550 per 10 grams), down Rs10,200 (‑2.24%) from Monday’s Rs456,400/tola, according to a cross-check of Karachi-based rate trackers including UrduPoint, GoldRatesPakistan.com and Gold.pk. Silver held broadly steady at Rs6,794 per tola (Rs5,822 per 10 grams), just a few rupees above Monday’s close.

The pullback tracks a slide in international gold, which dropped to a six-week low of roughly $4,263 per ounce on Monday — down 1.23% on the day — as the US Dollar Index climbed to 99.57 and Treasury yields firmed, both of which make non-yielding bullion less attractive to hold. The bigger driver is the Federal Reserve’s two-day policy meeting, which concludes on Tuesday: after new Fed Chair Kevin Warsh flagged inflation concerns at last month’s Jackson Hole symposium, traders have been pricing in a real chance of the Fed’s first rate increase since 2023 — a sharp reversal from the cutting cycle markets had expected only weeks earlier, and the kind of hawkish surprise that typically weighs on gold. A separate spike in oil prices, tied to reports of a Saudi pipeline shutdown, added to inflation worries but mostly fed into a stronger dollar rather than safe-haven demand for gold, according to market commentary from USAGOLD’s daily precious metals report.

Notably, by early Tuesday trading in the US, spot gold had already bounced back above $4,340/oz, a move that came too late to be reflected in Karachi’s morning-fixed domestic rate. If that rebound holds once the Fed’s decision itself lands later on Tuesday, Wednesday’s local rate could reverse higher — a pattern that has played out several times already this month in PakDaily’s daily rate updates.
