Gold edged higher in Pakistan on Wednesday, with 24-karat climbing to Rs422,136 per tola, as international bullion firmed ahead of the US Federal Reserve’s policy decision even while a flare-up in the Middle East stirred fresh inflation worries.
The local rate, tracked from the All Pakistan Sarafa Gems and Jewellers Association’s opening quote and reported by Pakistan Observer and separately by Daily Pakistan, works out to a rise of roughly Rs3,136, or about 0.75 percent, over Tuesday’s level of Rs419,000 per tola reported in PakDaily’s Oct 27 update. Not every outlet agreed on the exact figure, however: Business Recorder and SAMAA TV both quoted a notably higher 24-karat rate of Rs425,636 per tola, about Rs3,500 above the association-sourced number used here. Given that this site’s own automation has previously been burned by a stale, evergreen-template article quoting an old figure under a fresh date, the lower, Sarafa-association-cited cluster — corroborated independently by two outlets and consistent with the size of today’s move in the international market — is used below, with the higher figure flagged for readers rather than silently discarded.
Globally, gold hovered in the $4,030-$4,045 per ounce range on Wednesday, according to Business Recorder and financial data provider FinanceFeeds, up roughly $20-30 from Tuesday’s level near $4,015. Traders stayed cautious ahead of the Fed’s rate decision and Chair Kevin Warsh’s press conference later in the day, with markets pricing in a high probability of a hawkish shift in December even if Wednesday’s move itself was held. Adding to the inflation picture, a Houthi-claimed strike on Saudi Arabia’s Ras Tanura oil facility pushed Brent crude up more than one percent to above $115 a barrel, Business Recorder reported, reviving concerns about price pressures that can cut both ways for gold. A marginally firmer US Dollar Index, up about 0.1 percent ahead of the Fed decision, capped some of the day’s gains, while the Pakistani rupee stayed essentially flat against the dollar, meaning today’s move in the local market tracked the international gold price almost directly rather than any currency effect.
Silver moved in the opposite direction locally, easing to Rs5,793 per tola (Rs4,967 per 10 grams), Pakistan Observer reported, a pullback of Rs85 from the previous session even as gold firmed — a divergence that isn’t unusual when local bullion dealers adjust silver stocks independently of the day’s gold opening.

Gold and silver rates in Pakistan are typically set each morning by the All Pakistan Sarafa Gems and Jewellers Association and can be revised during the day in response to movement in the international bullion market and the rupee-dollar exchange rate. Buyers are advised to confirm same-day rates with a local jeweller before any transaction, since small intraday adjustments are common.
